Accolades: 2018 First-team All-SEC
Injuries: Suffered season ending injury after 7 games in 2017.
History: Three-star recruit from Daytona Beach. 6A Second Team All-State as a Junior at Mainland. Announced he will forego his senior season, and enter the 2019 NFL Draft.
Strengths: Quick feet, with excellent lateral ability. Great get off. Good movement skills and natural feet. Excellent closing burst. Comfortable lining up in a two point stance. Has shown at times, the ability to drop into coverage. Appears to have a natural feel in limited time dropping into coverage. Looks to cause a turnover, especially when rushing from the QB’s blind side. Looks to get his hands up when he can’t get home.
Weaknesses: One year of production. Didn’t look the part at the combine, looked like he carried some bad weight. Lacks elite length. Tape shows a lack of play strength. Doesn’t have the ability to stack. Blown out of his assignments way too often in the run game. Doesn’t offer much pop.
Overview: My issue with Polite on tape was his lack of size and strength, he obviously put on weight in the draft process, and it’s bad weight. Combine that with his possible character issues, that would scare me a little. His 2018 tape is really impressive, first round talent. I’d let someone else take the risk though. Polite is best fit as a weakside rush linebacker in a 30 front.
