Misc. Stats:

Accolades: 2015 USA Today All-American, 2017 First-team All-Big Ten

Injuries: Missed some time in 2018 with a shoulder injury.

History: Five-star recruit out of Paramus, NJ.. Third player ever voted #1 prospect in the country, by all 4 major recruiting networks (Clowney in ’11, Nkemdiche ’13). MVP of 2016 Under Armour All-America Game. Michigan hired his former head coach as director of player personnel and recruiting. Has declared for the 2019 NFL Draft, will forego his Senior season.

Strengths: Great size, looks the part. Has some versatility to play both inside and on the edge. Has lined up all over the formation. Has a great combo of speed and power. Lateral quickness is great. Can stack or split in double teams. Excellent closing speed. Motor stays hot. Shows glimpses of strong hand usage. Tough and competitive. Elite upside.

Weaknesses: Still raw, still more of an athlete than he is a technician. Late to diagnose at times. Needs to do a better job wrapping up. Could he be a tweener? It appears that his weight has fluctuated at times. Needs to do a better job timing the snap count. His production has not lived up to the potential.

Overview: A dynamic physical specimen that combines speed and power. Gary has the versatility to play inside or outside, but would best fit in a 40 front where he can be moved along the line. Gary hasn’t produced as much as you’d like, but his best football is in front of him.
