Misc. Stats:

Accolades: MS State Champion, 2017 First-team All-SEC, 2018 First-team All-SEC, 2018 Third-team All-American,

Injuries: Minor shoulder shoulder after 2017 season.

History: Five-star recruit out of Noxubee County High School. A video surfaced of him punching a woman during his recruiting process. Simmons was found guilty of malicious mischief and plead no contest to simple assault. Was not invited to the Combine due to the assault. Now visits schools in the area to give motivational speeches. He suffered a torn ACL during the draft process, working out.

Strengths: Looks the part, very strong (has bench 450+ lbs, squat 600+ lbs, with 15% body fat). Pushes the pocket, constantly requiring double teams to block him. Movement skills are impressive for his size. Great get off. Quick and violent hands. Has room to add bulk. Does a good job working down the line in the run game. Good tackler.

Weaknesses: Could do a better job anchoring, especially on double teams. Had some inconsistencies in his pad level, especially when anchoring, sometimes opening a big hole. Still raw. Only 7 career sacks. Has had some character concerns in the past, but seems like he has changed his life around. His medicals will need to be vetted by teams staff, as he suffered a torn ACL preparing for the Draft.

Overview: Strong, quick, and disruptive defensive tackle. He has an excellent body, with room to grow. Simmons is still raw, and needs to work on his pass rush repertoire and anchoring in the run game. He projects as a future pro bowl player, best suited as a 3-technique in a 40 front.
