Injuries:

History: Five-star recruit from Clinton, MS. Was a two-time All-State duel-threat QB at Clinton High School, where he won the school’s first ever Class 6A State Title. Passed for 8,140 yards and 78 TDs, rushed for 5,103 yards and 71 TDs. Participated in Nike’s “The Opening” and was the U.S. Army Player of the Year. Was named Mississippi’s Mr. Football and the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year. Chose Florida St. over Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, and Tennessee.

Strengths: Ideal size, looks the part. Great athlete, 8.77 RAS score. Good long speed, and very natural runner. Powerful leg drive. Very decisive zone runner. Capable of carrying a workload. Solid receiver, who caught 69 balls in his career. Solid picking up blitzers in pass-pro, has the big body to square up against linebackers. Provides upside as a wildcat QB or some trick plays (as a former QB). Good football character.

Weaknesses: Feet are a little heavy. Lacks true make you miss ability and acceleration out of his cuts. Vision is average. Has had some ball security issues.

Overview: Akers didn’t get a fair hand at Florida St., with an offense in shambles, he still found a way to produce. I’m higher on Akers than most, I have him as my RB4. He can contribute as part of a RBBC right away, with the chance to have a pretty productive rookie season. He’s a mid day two pick, with the chance to be a solid starter, and a future bright piece of an offense. He best fits in a zone running scheme.
