Misc. Stats:

Accolades: 2017 Third-team All-ACC,

History: Three-star recruit out of Altavista, VA., where he played Quarterback and Safety. Helped Altavista High School win back to back State Titles. Also played basketball and scored 1,000 points in his career.

Strengths: Good size and length. Aggressive in run support. Play strength is a plus. Not afraid to lay the wood. Operates well in zone coverage. Makes good plays on the ball. Experience at both corner and safety. Productive player. Experienced.

Weaknesses: Lacks lateral agility to match quicker receivers. Man coverage is somewhat of a liability. Marginal recover speed and fluidness. Has some clear tightness in his hips, preventing him from sticking with receivers coming out of breaks.

Overview: Thornhill is a good hybrid for todays new safety/slot role. He doesn’t fit a true center fielder role, nor is he an in the box safety. He projects best in a defense that would allow him to play the ball in front of him and makes play in the box.
