Injuries: Suffered season ending knee injury in Oct 15′, suffered a foot injury while working out for the combine.
History: Four-star recruit from Conway, SC. Was a finalist for South Carolina’s “Mr. Football” at Conway High School. Enrolled at South Carolina in January 16′.
Strengths: Good size and speed. Acceleration is really good, gets up to top speed fast. Has been successful getting off, in the times he’s faced press. Can be used in all 3 levels of the field. Physical throughout route. Very strong runner, does not go down easy. Pretty good vision as a runner. Competitive blocker. Has some punt return experience. Productive four-year starter, and Team Captain as a Senior.
Weaknesses: Average short area quickness. Hips are a little tight, route running suffers a little due to this. Will have some trouble getting open at first. Dealt with some drops throughout career. RAC ability is nothing spectacular, he’s tough but not dynamic.
Overview: It’s a shame that Edwards broke his foot while working out for the combine, because I was curious what he’d run. He’s not a blazer by any means but he’s got solid build up speed. He projects as a X receiver at the next level, but needs to work on his craft to get meaningful snaps. I’d be shocked if he was still on the board after day two. He was a productive player, and has good height/weight/speed upside.
