Misc. Stats:

History: Four-star recruit from Abbotsford, BC. Helped lead his Abbotsford team to a AA State Championship game as a Senior. Took part in Nike’s 2015 “The Opening”, as well as the 2016 Blue-Grey All-American Bowl. Was also a four-star basketball recruit.

Strengths: Elite size/speed specimen. Tight End size presents mismatch potential in slot. Excellent leaper (40 1/2″ Vert. at combine). Offers a large catch radius. Bully in contested catch situations. Adds immediate upgrade on special team coverage. Really gets after it as a blocker in the run game. Competitive Player.

Weaknesses: Production was limited until Senior year. Can be a little slow to locate/anticipate the ball. Lacks some lateral ability. Hip tightness limits digging in & accelerating out of breaks as a route runner. Lacks the shiftiness post catch.

Overview: Claypool, is another late riser, after a huge day at the combine. There’s no denying the potential, but he still has a ways to go. The size/speed combo can get him snaps early on in out of the slot. His route running and separation as an outside receiver still need work. You can’t downplay the immediate upgrade he makes on special teams, he’s an ace and leader of that unit day one.
