LaVar Ball: God’s Gift To Basketball

By: Steve Johnson

If you don’t know who LaVar Ball is, look him up, cus he’s kinda a big deal. Big enough for God to put him on this planet to revolutionize the game of basketball. It’s not just having 3 highly touted sons, including Lonzo the freshmen leader of UCLA and likely top 3 pick in this years draft. LaVar was actually a player himself back in the day. According to LaVar in a recent interview with Josh Peter of USA Today,”Back in my heyday, I would kill Michael Jordan one-on-one”. Now he’s received a lot of hate on social media since then, starting the #LaVarBallSays, but I’m with LaVar here. I mean the numbers speak for themselves (2.2 ppg at Wash. St. in 1987 before transferring due to playing time), but we’re talking about a guy thats intensity makes Marv Marinovich look like a good father. Not that an explanation is really needed for a totally legitimate statement like calling out his airness in a 1v1 game but if this were to go down, here’s how Lavar sees it happening. “I would just back (Jordan) in and lift him off the ground and call a foul every time he fouls me when I do a jump hook to the right or the left,” Ball said. “He cannot stop me one-on-one. He better make every shot ’cause he can’t go around me. He’s not fast enough. And he can only make so many shots outside before I make every bucket under the rim.” Now that’s a pretty solid strategy to take down MJ if you ask me. Some people disagreed though, in fact this dude got completely murdered on social media, RIP LaVar Ball…
