History: Three-star recruit from Mobile, AL.
Strengths: Thick build. Smart and instinctive. Has shown the ability to time the blitz perfectly and shoot gaps. Understands his zone concepts, always in a good position. Will lay the wood when the given the opportunity. Play strength is really good, brings a heavy punch. Not afraid to take on the big boys. Reliable tackler. Great leader. Motor is great.
Weaknesses: Lacks ideal height. Lateral agility and long speed are lacking. Will not be able to stick with Tight Ends in man coverage, given his lack of length and athleticism.
Overview: Davis is a muscular, tough, fiesty, and smart middle linebacker. Davis best fits in the middle linebacker role in a 3-4, where he can take on blocks to free up the WILL. His lack of length and athleticism prevent him from playing in many schemes, and not every team will love him as a player. All teams, will love him as a leader. He immediately makes an instant impact on special teams and could work himself into a starter role.
